The ITDZ Berlin (Berlin IT Service Centre) is the central IT service provider for the state of Berlin. As an IT company, it supports digitalisation while standardising and centralising the information and communication technology (ICT) of Berlin’s administration. In doing so, ITDZ Berlin assists around 130,000 employees in the Senate and district administrations, as well as in many other public institutions of the state of Berlin, in their daily work. As the state’s IT service provider, ITDZ Berlin drives the digital modernisation of public services—for example, with solutions such as the BerlinPC, the Digital File, or the broadband expansion for Berlin’s schools.

With modern, certified, and secure IT services, the operation of Berlin’s 1,150-kilometre state network, and several data centres providing over 10.5 petabytes of storage capacity for data storage, ITDZ Berlin creates the technical foundation for a high-performance, citizen-oriented, and future-proof administration. Protecting the personal data of Berlin’s citizens and ensuring a high level of information security are among its core responsibilities. Additionally, ITDZ Berlin fends off more than 10 million unauthorised access attempts and cyberattacks annually. Through its Cyber Defence Centre and Berlin-CERT, it ensures 24/7 protection of sensitive data and the state’s IT infrastructure.

As part of the digital transformation, ITDZ Berlin continuously advances the IT infrastructure of the capital. This includes establishing secure data spaces for Berlin’s administration and creating trusted frameworks for data exchange between administrative units, as well as for the secure use of artificial intelligence applications within the public sector. Such sovereign and protected data spaces are a key prerequisite for ensuring that data is processed securely, transparently, and in compliance with regulations, while also enabling exchange between different stakeholders.

ITDZ Berlin currently employs around 1,400 staff and generated a turnover of approximately €400 million in 2025.
